IPM In The News |
Apple IPM is complex and insights and knowledge gained over years of experience in various orchard situations are very valuable. It is important for professionals working in the area of IPM, such as scientists, extension personnel and IPM consultants, to share their knowledge and insights for the overall advancement of IPM.
Each year the Vermont Apple IPM Program organizes and hosts the New England, New York, Canadian Fruit IPM Workshop which is attended by approximately fifty scientists, extension personnel, and independent IPM consultants from throughout the region. The Workshop is considered one of the best meetings to exchange apple IPM knowledge and insights by those who attend.
The regional IPM workshop is always rated very highly by its participants. All (i.e., 100%) of the participants who evaluated the workshop said that they increased their knowledge and understanding of IPM and 87% said they learned new IPM techniques. Ninety-six percent of surveyed participants stated that the workshop facilitates IPM working relationships and provides a forum to share innovative ideas about IPM with colleagues.
